Post graduation depression is something most of us deal with in post grad life, we just need to learn how to survive in the real world by constantly practicing to be the best version of ourselves
Congratulations, You Did It!

The time it takes you to find a job has NOTHING to do with your worth and value. Make sure you push through this standstill and TAKE constant ACTION towards achieving your goals!

You graduated, it is super exciting, now what???

It is completely normal to feel scared and confused when going through such a major change in your life.

Tip 1: Reset Your Expectations & Bust the Myths To Avoid Falling in Post Graduation Depression

Post graduation depression usually happens because we have unrealistic expectations about what after grad life will be like so a good place to start is by re setting our expectations

After we graduate, society puts so much pressure on us to:

  • Having it all together & figured out
  • Not letting your family down
  • Making your parents’ investment of your schooling worth it
  • Having the best job
  • Being paid a certain amount
  • Starting a family
  • Getting married
  • Having children and more.

That is just NOT how it works for the most part… Sure, some people get luckier than others.

But there are many different ways that the right opportunity might come along:

  • For some people, it might seem like their path might have come along just at the right time
  • Or some have their path already carved for them by their parents
  • Some work harder than others to make it all happen
  • Some people will just wait and hope
  • Sometimes you will try everything but still struggle

…this is life…it’s normal.

Finding jobs after college is just something we do to add to our life whether it is a sense of meaning or purpose or whether it is for monetary gain but it is not our worth

Stop comparing yourself to other people, because, how is that helping you? Is it furthering you in your career? Is it making your life any easier? No?! so stop wasting time and energy on it

Whatever you decide to do with your life and career should be solely based on what feels right for you and only you.

Save yourself the trouble and don’t try to make someone else happy with your life choices. It will just create conflicts, hard feelings, resentment and unhappiness in the long run.

Remember you also shouldn’t just sit and wait for something to happen because literally NOTHING will magically get done on its own.

post graduation depression can make you feel in a very dark place and make you feel un worthy but you are so much more than that, just take small acts of courage and keep moving forward to a better future
Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway!

If after graduating you feel burnt out, don’t feel guilty if you decide to reward yourself by taking a break! Just make sure to avoid racking up even more debt because it will make your future even harder.

I know it can be scary to switch your entire world into something you are uncomfortable with and unsure of.

Learning how to just feel the fear and doing it anyway, is the secret to being successful and grow at a rapid rate in life.

Each decision you make should be made in a calculated manner so it’s not like you are blind to the situation.

Most importantly, just know that nothing happens overnight, so you just need to be patient and you will breakthrough!

Tip 2: Know Why You Are Here And What Your Goals Are

How can you achieve your dreams if you don’t even know what they are? Get a game plan

get a gameplan and take action towards your most important goals
Make Sure You Consistently Take Action Towards Your Goals

You want to first find your why and your purpose

(Follow the blog and youtube. Next week I walk you through steps by step on how to do just that.)

Find Your Unique Purpose

Start by asking yourself:

  • What do you love?
  • What do you shine the most in?
  • Out of anything in life, what makes you the happiest?
  • What do you want to accomplish, experience?
  • Define what success looks like to you?
  • What are your best qualities?
  • In what situation do your qualities shine the most in?

Tip 3: Give Up All Excuses – Give Yourself A Little Tough Love – Identify Why You Fell In Post Graduation Depression In The First Place

Stop blaming everything and everyone and realize that you need to take 100% responsibility for your life because you are the only one who can organize the life you want to have.

Stop Wasting Your Time, You Are Worth More!

Don’t complain and assume other people’s feelings and responses before even asking them; ask them why they are making a particular remark or why they are making a particular expression before just assuming the world is against you.

Being defensive and avoiding them is not going to help you, what is the worst-case scenario anyways? They could say “no” so that you can have closure and move on. Or, they could actually tell you what is wrong that way you can fix it.

Mainly when it comes to a professional environment, don’t complain that no one called you back. Assuming a million different scenarios like that “it must be because nowadays people demand too much” won’t help you.

Call them back and Follow up! if they say no, ASK WHY so that you can fix it. It could be something so simple!

Tip 4: Set Up A Structured Routine

time block your schedule and get a structured routine to make sure that you don't fall being busy instead of being productive after grad life.

If you have no specific plan set up, it is much easier to get sidetracked and distracted from what you need to accomplish.

It would be beneficial for you to learn how to time block your day so that you can divide your time efficiently between:

  • Perfect your interview outfits
  • Learn and get online certifications if applicable
  • To attend free seminars
  • Attend career fairs
  • Volunteer so that you can make a difference and possibly even network
  • Clean up your online presence

You always want to be a step ahead of the competition, really take this time to focus on yourself.

Know what you want and understand your value in order to be prepared to define it.

  • Believe in yourself and your worth.
  • Accept and forgive yourself for the past
  • Be ready to welcome the new you
  • Maintain a level of positive expectancy
